Positioning is THE most critical part of defensive planning. A good fire position has both good cover
from fire, a good field of view and allows for multiple avenues of escape for the defenders. For instance hills make excellent
defensive positions as the enemy must advance uphill (very tiring) and the defenders have superior fields of fire as well
as the concealment that the forest provides. The position at right is a good example of a well thought-out gunpit with both
concrete re-inforcement and a wooden firing platform for the M60 machinegun that is positioned there. Also notice that the
M60 is equipped with an image-intensifier scope to aid in spotting targets at night (also next to the M60 is a "plugbox" where
claymore mines are wired and triggered from).
